งานประเพณีสลากภัต สลากย้อมประจำปีพ.ศ.2551
ประเพณีสลากภัต หรือกินสลาก หรือตานก๋วยสลาก
เป็นประเพณีเก่าแก่ซึ่งจะจัดขึ้นในวันเพ็ญเดือน 10 ของทุกปี โดยจะนิมนต์พระมารับสลากภัตมากกว่า 2,000 รูป เป็นพิธีทำบุญถวายของชาวล้านนา ตามธรรมเนียมจะให้วัดที่สร้างขึ้นเป็นแห่งแรกของจังหวัด หรือวัดหลวง จัดงานทานสลากภัตก่อน ในจังหวัดลำพูน คือวัดพระธาตุหริภุญชัย วรมหาวิหาร จากนั้นวัดอื่นๆ ก็จัดงานทานสลากภัตเรื่อยไป จนถึงวันแรม 14 ค่ำ เดือน 11 (เดือนเกี๋ยงเหนือ แรม 14 ค่ำ หรือเดือนเกี๋ยงดับ)
ส่วนสลากย้อม เป็นพิธีทานสลากพิเศษของชาวไทยยอง สลากย้อมนี้จะประดิษฐ์จากต้นไม้ หรือกิ่งไม้สูงประมาณ 4-5 วา มีร่มกางที่ปลายยอด ลำต้นของสลากจะมีฟางมัดเป็นกำๆ สำหรับปักไม้ไผ่ที่ผูกแขวนเครื่องปัจจัยไทยทาน ซึ่งเครื่องไทยทานนั้น จะเป็นเครื่องประดับ ของมีค่า เครื่องใช้ในชีวิตประจำวัน ซึ่งทำให้เห็นเชื่อที่ว่า ผู้ที่ถวายทานสลากย้อมนี้ มีเครื่องใช้ในการครองเรือน และมีคุณสมบัติครบถ้วนแก่การครองเรือนแล้วนั่นเอง
ทั้งนี้สลากย้อมดังกล่าว เมื่อทำพิธีถวายพระสงฆ์แล้ว เจ้าตัวก็จะรีบบูชากลับคืนไป และจากการสังเกตจากสำนวนคำร่ำสลากย้อมแล้ว พบว่ามีการเรียกสลากชนิดนี้กัปปรุกขา หรือต้นกัลปพฤกษ์ ซึ่งเป็นต้นไม้ในนิยายที่อาจบันดาลสิ่งต่างๆ ตามความประสงค์ของผู้ขอได้
